October 11, 2014 shortly after midnight District 41, Clayton Fire was dispatched to West High Street for a reported dwelling fire. Upon the first due engines arrival heavy fire conditions were found on the C/D divisions. Crews quickly went to work, to knock the initial bulk making entry and starting an aggressive interior attack while other companies opened up and secured a water supply. The fire continued to spread via the ridge in the attic spaces. Companies were faced with a residence that was split up into a inlaw type suite. Crews continued to work over approx. an hour and brought the fire under control. One Dist 41 firefighter was injured with a hand laceration, he was treated and released from a local hospital. Multiple Gloucester County fire companies assisted on location as well as with cover assignments. Chief Rehm of Dist. 41 had command. County fire marshals office is investigating.
