October 22, 1995 - there we were, two kids (okay we were in our 20s), reading our poetry for Timothy Leary at his house. The birthday party was billed as Tims last and final hoorah. I was too anxious to hit any nitrous balloons that were being offered, Dennis however wasnt. The gathering was a definite feast for the people watching senses, I seem to remember Tony Bennett showing up, however Tim spent most of his time on the couch appearing not so celebratory at all, he was super ill. We got a chance to meet Tim as the group of us poets sat on his couch around him and conversed while random people snapped photographs. It truly was one of the strangest times I ever experienced and I was sober. That was also the same night we met Perry Ferrell, but you have to wait for the LAUNCH PARTY FOR MOTH WING TEA by DENNIS CRUZ to hear how the rest of that shindig went. Even though I was more of a Ken Kesey girl, I appreciate all of Tims work! Happy Birthday Mr. Leary...
