October 24, 2014 Moment of Grace GET OUT OF THE BOAT Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. 27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” 28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” 29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Matthew 14:25-30 NIV We all have some “old proverbial” sayings like, “Fish, or cut bait;” “Can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen!” And, one of my Dad’s favorites to his sons, “Can’t never did do anything!” Peter’s invitation from Jesus has given us another, “Can’t walk on water unless you get out of the boat!” I can see some of you smiling… Are you facing something that you need to make the decision- get out of the boat?!? What keeps us from doing the seemingly impossible? Fear? Doubt? In our Moment of Grace thought today did you notice only 1 out of 12 even asked if he could come to Jesus walking on the water? After you ask and you get a response that is full of faith motivation what do you do? Get out of the boat! Peter never forgot the feeling of walking on water! Jesus was with Peter… they walked together back to the boat! Jesus will walk with you through this time in your life…. Take my hand precious Lord and lead me on! PRAYER: Father God, You stretched out Your hand for me. Wonderful Lord, You are my Strength and my Fortress. Whenever I am afraid, You send comfort… Your Word is a seed placed in my heart and it grows more in each test. I rest in Your Word until fear is dealt with and then Your voice is clearly heard and You take me by the hand to finish the walk. Thank You Jesus, Amen!
