October 27 was NOT a leather jacket day to wear. It was a suit and tie thing to do as a Candidate Scrutineer during election day in the Renfrew Town Hall. Cal is a Harley rider and was running for a mayor of Renfrew. He asked me to participate in the voting process similarily to the instance late last year when many of my EOO HOG Chapter friends were voting for me in the contest entry of mine for Crown Rustproofing. I offered my full support and it was close but no cigar. However, I enjoyed my first experience in this sort of a democratic process right from the beginning to the end when the results were announced in the huge gathering of candidates, friends and their families in the Ma-te- Way Arena. Meanwhile, lots of my clients, suppliers, friends and people I know in Renfrew went by the Boardroom to cast their votes. Large number of parents were accompanied by their YOUNG HAWKS with an intent to show hands on the voting procedures of this particular citizenship right. They were voting TOGETHER. Counting of ballots took over 4 hours and the total participation was 52 %. This year by some strange decree my days of Health and Safety protective clothing and suit and tie days prevailed over my leather jacket and chaps riding gear. The Tim Horton coffee I promised to my faithful voters last winter is not forgotten. For now, the coffee pot is just on a back burner...
