October 30th will mark 25 years that our office has been located out in southeast Jefferson county. Prior to that, the forecast office was located at Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee. Much has changed over those years. In September of 1995 we commissioned the WSR-88D Doppler Weather Radar here at the office. The internet was very new in the 90s. We rolled out our first web page in April of 1996! Attached are two images showing how things were back in the late 90s. Who remembers what our first web page looked like? Our forecasts also look very different. There is much more detail for a much longer period. You can see what the early internet looked like by visiting archive.org.
