October 5, 2014 Police Pursuit of Motorcycle Lexington Township On Sunday, October 5, 2014 at approximately 11:25 AM Deputy Todd Laming of the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office observed a southbound motorcycle pass a vehicle on Old 51 and run an oncoming vehicle off the road. Deputy Laming attempted a traffic stop at the intersection of Roach Road and Old 51 in Lexington Township. The suspect failed to stop and proceeded eastbound on Roach Road at speeds up to 90 miles per hour. Sgt Jason Schoen of the Lexington Police Department who was monitoring Deputy Laming’s radio traffic responded to the intersection of Roach and Lakeshore Roads. As the Lexington patrol unit came into the intersection the suspect motorcycle attempted to go around the patrol unit at a very slow speed and struck the patrol unit causing minor damage. The driver of the motorcycle then attempted to drive through the ditch, lost control and tipped the motorcycle over in the ditch where he was arrested without incident. The driver of the motorcycle, a 43 year old Port Huron man refused treatment from the Croswell Ambulance Service. He was transported to the Sanilac County Jail where he was booked on charges of Felony Fleeing and Eluding and an outstanding Bench Warrant from the Sanilac County Court System. The suspect’s name is being withheld pending arraignment in the 73-2 District Court, Sandusky. Deputies were assisted on scene by the Lexington Police and Fire Department, Croswell Police Department and Croswell Ambulance Service.
