Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik scheduled to call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with all the BJD MPs comprising members from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. This is for the first time that the Chief Minister of Odisha will take the ruling party’s 24 MPs along with him. While BJD has 20 MPs in the Lok Sabha, it has four MPs in Rajya Sabha while three other seats remained vacant. Therefore a team of 25 leaders led by Naveen will meet Modi to discuss certain crucial issues relating to the state. Never before, Naveen or any chief minister of Odisha had gone take a team to the Prime Minister. The political observers observed that Naveen will give a clear message to the Prime Minister that Odisha has adequate strength to put the central government in trouble. Naveen will also give another message that the MPs represent the voice of four crore people of odisha in the Parliament. Therefore, the government should not ignore them. During the discussion, sources said, Naveen was likely to raise the controversial Polavaram project issue besides the state’s long standing demand of a special category status for odisha. In both the cases, Modi led NDA government appeared to be adopting the earlier policy of the UPA government which is considered anti-odisha. Naveen’s team is likely to tell the Prime Minister that odisha’s interest should never be compermised. In another political message, Naveen will tell Modi that his regional party is still going strong in Odisha even after 14 years rule in the state
