Off to a shaky start....was stuck numerous times before they finally were able to get an IV started. Arms and wrists all junkafied...Id fit right in with da peoples on da street. Great news is...I got to practice all my breathing techniques a little early...yelling too! Small Fragile veins that roll along with the fact that I was a previous human pin cushion due to an accident is not a great combo. Add that with a nurse starting off going for the kill with a 18 gauge in my tender wrist and missing the vein then fishing for it. I was a little traumatized from the start! I had them start my epidural right away...for fear the anesthesiologist would be caught up in a scheduled c-section when I needed him the most. An apology goes out to the lady down the hall that may of had to wait on her c-section a few extra minutes due to my need to stay ahead of the game. (I have a horrible birthing experience 16 years ago*skilyr*). The epidural was a piece of cake in comparison. I had a wonderful lady come in and draw blood with a butterfly needle(my fav). Got it first time! They might have managed to get an IV going with a 20...but still were unable to draw blood after all those sticks (I lost count) So yes...I was stuck again! Lets see....I puked my guts out for like 20 mins thereafter. Egg and cheese bagel prior to my arrival...bad idea!!! They started me on some meds to further thin out cervix verse the pitocin. I Started this post...took a little nap...and woke up to some pretty good contractions. Thank god for the premature epidural! I cant even imagine feeling the full force of something I already considered painful. The doctor is going to keep me contracting for a little longer before breaking my water. My contractions are not bringing the baby down...so this could be a sign that shes too large to fit in the space. This is making me pretty nervous...a c-section for me wld pose extra risks due to scar tissue from that pin cushion accident I mentioned a the beginning of this post. So plz say a couple prayers for me today if ya think of it! My best friend in the world (the epidural giver) just added to my meds to help me feel more comfortable as these contractions are getting a little more intense. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers and motivational pep talks...you all make me feel like I could deliver 10 babies with one single push!!!lol. We will keep ya posted!
