Some of the areas staffed included the jail kitchen, laundry, outside road and drain crews, male and female receiving, first and second floors, car wash, and floor buffer. The inmate worker report is reviewed on a daily basis to make sure each area is staffed to capacity. There is a constant change to the report due to the releasing of inmates, new charges brought against the inmate, or removal for a disciplinary reason. There was eight days of jail overcrowding in the month of October. None of these days reached the consecutive count which would have resulted in sentence reductions. Total meals prepared by the jail kitchen for the month was 35,705. The number of females booked into the jail in October was 148. Of this number, eight stated that they were pregnant during the booking process. This information has not yet been verified by our physician. Once inside the attic, the suspect(s) used a screwdriver to poke a hole in the drywall ceiling and used a drywall saw to cut a hole big enough for a person to fit through. The suspect(s) was trapped in an office area and could not get into the jewelry area. Suspect exited back through the roof. Stolen were two watches from the office area. The building is alarmed and also has motion sensors inside. Another car breaking and entering was reported out of Chikaming Township.
