*****Officer Involved Shooting Update**** Thank you to all of you for your questions and comments of concern. All officers are ok and the investigation is on-going. On June 22, 2014 at about 2:00 am, officers and deputies from the Coeur d’Alene Police Department, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho State Police and the Post Falls Police Department were involved in an officer involved shooting on Interstate 90 at milepost 5. The Critical Incident Task Force has been activated for the investigation. Additionally, because of the four agencies involved, the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office and the Rathdrum Police Department have also been requested to assist. The Bonner County Sheriff’s Office will be overseeing the investigation. The lone suspect involved in this case was transported to Kootenai Health and is listed in critical condition. Currently the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 from Highway 41 to Spokane Street will be closed for an undetermined amount of time. Travelers will need to use alternate routes. At this time, public information regarding the investigation will be handled by the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.
