Officers Carry Out Operation Toxicology Officers from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit carried out checks of more than twenty goods vehicles in an operation targeting those transporting dangerous goods on Thursday 26th September. Operation Toxicology took place on the A19 southbound near Stockton between 9.30am and 2pm. A total of 23 vehicles were stopped during the operation and were subject to scrutiny in respect of traffic offences including tachograph, drivers hours and vehicle identification as well as hazchem legislation and identity checks . Three prohibitions were issued for incorrect placarding and missing equipment and six written advice notices were issued for offences such as missing or damaged mandatory equipment and fire extinguishers not being tested. Chief Inspector Ed Turner, Head of the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit, said: “This operation is carried out regularly and aims to keep our motorists as safe as possible by identifying those vehicles that are using our roads that can be a danger or have committed traffic offences. “Operation Toxicology will continue whilst there are people who continue to ignore our warnings and put other road users in danger.”
