Officers on bike patrol make drug arrest: Late Wednesday night - TopicsExpress

Officers on bike patrol make drug arrest: Late Wednesday night at approximately 11 PM, officers on bike patrols were in the 1100 block of West 16 Street when they observed a Gold 2004 Pontiac Grand AM acting suspicious and commit a traffic violation. The officers went to make contact with the driver but when contacted the driver decided to speed away. We guess the driver thought he could outrun the bike officers. Officers followed on the police bicycles in the general direction (yes-the car did get away) but officers put out a broadcast on the radio of the suspect vehicle. A short time later a patrol officer (someone in a car) spotted the vehicle in the 1000 block of North Jefferson and initiated a traffic stop making contact with the driver and occupants. When the bike officers arrived (it took a few minutes on bikes to get there) and began questioning the occupants and driver, they were able to develop probable cause and recovered marijuana and methadone, arresting two of the three subjects who were in the car. Luis Garcia, 17 years old of Mount Pleasant was booked in for Possession of a Controlled Substance and received citations for Expired Motor Vehicle Registration and No Driver’s License. Garcia has prior arrests that can be viewed on the Titus County Jail Inmate Lookup Web page. Jamie Munoz, 17 years old of Mount Pleasant was jailed for Possession Marijuana a Class B offense. Great job by our newly certified bike officers and patrol officer…. and remember, you can’t out run a radio.
