Official race report from this weekend. First and most importantly this race was awesome. The Door County Tri come highly recommended. Very well organized and an awesome course. My mother and brother did this race also so that was fun. They were both in waves before me so it was nice to watch them start. When my wave went up I got right in front as always, usually its crowed up there but it wasnt this time. And we were off!! Right out of the gate there were about 5 ladies swimming in a group out front but myself and one other girl pulled away quick. Then this chick decided to swim on top of me for the next 50 yards or so. I was gunna smack her! Its a big lake, we arent playing water polo!!! I lost her at the first turn. Then it was smooth sailing and just as I felt I was warm and ready to kick up the turnover, the swim was over. Only 400 meters. Best part of this race...they take your wet suit off of you!! All I had to do was unzip they pull it down tell you to sit and pull it off!! AWESOME!!! Then into T1, ran past my bike. I knew I was in the right row but went to far down. Might be time for a brighter transition towel. Glasses helmet shoes on. Side note girls bike helmets should have extra hair room. I always have to shove mine on my head to get it over my pony tail! Ok got my bike and for some reason I had a hard time getting on my bike, almost fell over. T1 killed me bc of these two issues that added about 20 seconds, augh but whatever I had me road tires!!!! (Thanks Rick Schopp) wind going out on the bike was strong but I knew to expect that (thanks Rachel Stollenwerk) so on I went. The course was awesome and people who livid on the course were out playing music and cheering us on. I need to push the bike a little harder let it hurt more. Wind on the way back not as bad but not as good as I thought. T2 was quicker than T1 and I was off running. No searing shoulder pain this time (it happened on the bike instead) I felt good quicker than I ever have and I knew I had to push the run to stay at my goal pace. And I ran that thing at threshold the whole time, any faster and I would of been cramping up! The finish shoot was at the end of a downhill run, so I let it fly praying that I didnt fall down that hill! It was a great race I will for sure be back next year. Thanks to Robert Kellerman for always taking great pictures and his support. And thanks to Mary Ann Sedor for awesome coaching!! 5 weeks to my first olympic! #teamintent
