Officials learn more on 5th-penny sales tax City councilmembers and local leaders had a chance to learn the ins and outs of the voter-approved tax. By Lucas High lhigh@wyomingnews CHEYENNE -- Laramie County voters will once again be asked to renew the fifth-penny sales tax during the November general election. City officials and members of the Cheyenne City Council got a crash course on the 1 percent sales tax Wednesday. Voters must approve the fifth-penny tax every four years. November’s ballot will not include a choice to readopt the sixth-penny sales tax. One percent of all sales tax revenue is set aside by the city each year for specific types of projects.
