Officials say there is no threat to the local drinking water - TopicsExpress

Officials say there is no threat to the local drinking water supply after an oil train derailed and exploded in downtown Lynchburg, Virginia yesterday. At least 50,000 gallons of crude spilled, including an unknown volume into the James River. A hundred miles downriver in Richmond, authorities have begun drawing drinking water out of a separate canal rather than the James as a precautionary measure.
