Often, the artist gets in the way of the music. Stop trying to - TopicsExpress

Often, the artist gets in the way of the music. Stop trying to write music. Get a vision for it and let the music write itself -The late Michael Jackson- How often in life do we get in our own way? We try to write out our entire lifes stories. We try to plan for the forth verse before we even reach our chorus or finish with verse one. We plan exit strategies for a business we havent built. We plan on selling a house that we do not own. We plan on switching jobs before we have one. We plan for a marriage before we develop a relationship. Why listen to what the world says and follow a trend? We allow people to lay bounderies for our lifes song. You must have a degree. You must follow this career path. You must be married by this age. You must drive this car, own a house. That directly mirrors what happens in our music industry. Nine people write a song for pop artist 1 that sounds almost the same or shares the same running themes of pop artist 2, 3 and 4 (booty, djs and floors). But all it took was one man to write Bohemian Rhapsody. And well, we all know how that sounded. Now there are rules that governs even the greatest of artists. But those rules are meant to guide and inspire. Not direct and dictate. Find out what YOU want the song of your life to be. Get a vision for it and let it write itself. No matter how long it takes. Lest we end up with another song with a silly title sung by an artist who has no idea what he wants to be remembered for. Many blessings and much love. JL
