Often these days, the truth is lost in the media as they chase the latest headlines. Newspapers will stop at nothing to get the story, even if it means hurting a small business that has been a vital asset to a small community. This was the case this week in Lakehurst as Luigis Restaurant was seemingly demonized by a newspaper from Monmouth County. After Hurricane Sandy, Luigis was one of few restaurants open and with power. They provided weeks of food services to firefighters, police, the sheriffs department and to our armed forces as they worked tirelessly to restore order for us, keep our communities safe and were major parts of the recovery and healing process. They kept our men and women in uniform fed as many had lost their own homes, but worked to help others. A story like the one published in that newspaper can really hurt a small business, but they dont care, as long as somebody coughs up a few quarters to read the story. So today, if youre in the area, stop in at Luigis at 21 Union Avenue in Lakehurst to thank them for their service and give a little loving because as small business owners ourselves and not giant international media giants, we understand how much a false/bad/misleading headline can ruin somebodys livelihood. We just got back from an early lunch here ourselves and the pizza was great! Thank you to the newspaper for letting us know another great place to dine in Ocean County! luigisrestaurantlakehurst/
