Oftentimes in business, especially in food and beverages, what starts as a hobby develops into a marketable idea. This is certainly the case with Hassdog, a Hassan Haider venture. According to Hassan, it all started with an offhanded inquiry into whether he made sausages (which he didnt at the time), but after a how hard can it be? moment, the challenge was sprung. Suffice it to say he now has his answer (not that easy), and we, have Hassdog. Currently 3 different sausages are offered as dogs or part of a platter: milk bratwurst, sweet fennel Italian, and perilla leaf (깻잎). But more are certainly in the works. A sausage blend using coffee was being experimented with while I was there. How does it taste? Who knows, but one things for sure. Hit or miss, Hassan isnt afraid to try new things. For today, he recommended the platter (15,000) so I could try more than one sausage. Sausage platter (2 sausages) - milk brat (1/2 beef 1/2 pork mix) - sweet fennel Italian sausage - side salad - mashed potatoes w/chili - sauces: ketchup, mustard, sriracha To begin, the portions are very generous for the price. Healthy heaping of salad, and a good amount of mashed potatoes covered with chili and cheese. Both sausages have a good snap to them and the beef in the milk brat gives it a nice texture...chews really well. Also, the spice flavors of the sausages are not sharp; in fact, theyre actually rather subtle, but these flavors linger in your mouth for quite some time...a reminder of how good what you just ate was...delicious. Operating currently as a pop-up, Hassdog is located inside Outlab at Sinsa-dong 516-12 (one block west of the Garosugil main street) until the end of the month. Regarding future plans, Hassan shared that a lease for a brick and mortar space has been signed in KRD and will be opening in the coming months.
