The Oglala National Grasslands in northwestern Nebraska represent some of the last native grasslands in the United States. On a cool September morning a few years ago, I ventured out to the Meng Reservoir and captured the morning sun hitting the mist rising from the water. The only sound was ducks quacking the distance welcoming the new day.
