This is one of the reasons behind the regard I accord doctors. That said, it is so unfortunate to see these doctors abusing the role they play considering its vital nature by going on strike based on some very selfish and egocentric reasons. I read all their demands, some are genuine but one cant fail to notice that over 70% of their demands are overly selfish and makes you want to question the love they claim to have for humanity. Currently, doctors are on a different salary scale from other healthcare professionals, doctors are kicked off from Level 12 as against Level 8 for other graduate healthcare professionals, yet they are far from being satisfied. They do not want other healthcare professionals to rise to Consultant level among other self centred demands. Imagine house officers (trainees), looking for some sort of registration that will enable them independently go on strike. Its simply sad. Sadly, these doctors are only on strike in the Government hospitals (where poor people can afford) and are running full blown services in their private hospitals thereby diverting and extorting sick people as much as they can. Doctors, where is the love for humanity? Doctors, where is the passion? If you are a doctor reading this, where is your passion? Where are the sick people you claim you want to save today? Some died yesterday because you are not at work over not wanting another healthcare professional to assume the post of a CMD. Please, talk to one another and rekindle the passion that is meant to fuel the medical professional. Have a splendid day...
