Ogun Labour Party Elects State Exco Delegates at ward and local government levels converged on the ancient city of Abeokuta at the Centenary Hall, Ake today to elect new executive council members to run the affairs of the party in line with the directives of the National Working Committee of the party. The exercise, which was witnessed by thousands of party supporters from across the State was observed by the required agencies namely Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the State Security Service (SSS) as well as members of the Nigeria Police Force. The congress which was held under a very peaceful atmosphere, started with the registration of delegates at about 10 a.m and presided over by the National Deputy Chairman of the Labour Party, Hon. Joseph Akinlaja, a Unionist as well as a member of the Federal House of Representatives. In his address to the tumultuous crowd at the event, Hon. Akinlaja said he was sure of Labour Partys victory in the forthcoming polls going by the wide acceptance of the party by all people across the State. He stressed that with the successful holding of the much expected Congress, the baton of leadership of the party in the State has been passed to the newly elected officials who shall steer the affairs the party at the State level as regards the party constitution. The Acting Chairman of the Labour Party in Ogun State, Comrade John Laleye in his valedictory speech, thanked the national leadership of the Party for giving him the opportunity to serve while also charging those who will take over the mantle of leadership in the state to be resolute in the resolve to sack the present administration in the State in 2015. After the dissolution of the old executive council, new executive council emerged starting from the Chairmanship position which saw the former Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Ogun State, Comrade Niyi Osoba emerge as the new Chairman. In the new dispensation, the Chairman will be assisted by six deputies namely Chief Nuru Olaleye, Mr. Wasiu Agbetokun, Aderopo M., Comrade John Laleye, Comrade Samson Okusanya and Alhaja Rafatu Sanni. Hon. Dapo Adeyemi emerged as the State Secretary of the party while the post of the Financial Secretary went to Mr. Fatai Yinusa. Other executive officers elected included Hon. Deji Kalejaye; Public Relations Officer, Chief Gboyega Okenla; Legal Adviser and Mr. Kelani Orisatolu; Auditor. The new State Woman Leader, Alhaja Mujidat Ogunnaike would be assisted by Mrs. Omolola Soyombo, Mrs. Bosipo and Basirat Adeyemi as Deputy Women Leaders. Former member of the Ogun State House Assembly, Hon. Bankole Oyebode emerged as the State Youth Leader to be assisted by Mrs. Tope Obadina, Chief Layiwola Sobanjo and Comrade S. O. Ayeni.
