Ogun: More IGR, More Developmental Projects By Wale Adeosun From monthly Federal Allocation, Ogun State government share is 0.2% while Federal Government share is 52%. The allocation to the state is not paid until 45th day (on the 15 of another month). Meanwhile Ogun State Government is performing its financial obligation regularly and timely by paying its workforce (civil servants, political office holders, pensioners and contractors) before the receipt of Federal Allocation which is just #3billion - #4billion monthly. Whats the magic? Ogun State Government under the visionary leadership of Senator Ibikunle Amosun has increased the state Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from paltry #700million that was inherited from Daniel administration to #6billion within 3 years thereby making Ogun State the second IGR generating state after Lagos. The massive developmental projects that are embarked upon by this government in the areas of agriculture, education, security, transportation and urban renewal are made possible by the remarkable growth in the state IGR. The increase in IGR has also made car loan and housing loan possible for civil servants in the state. Yesterday, Governor Amosun announced payment of 27.5 increase in teachers salary. This was also made possible by increase in IGR. The state government had also announced the reduction in school fees of the state tertiary institutions. All these are made possible by the increase in the state IGR and I know that the more in IGR, the better for the good people of Ogun State in all sectors. With the pace in which the state government is going, Ogun State may soon reach #10billion IGR and that will therefore mean increase in more developmental projects.
