The 11 aspirants fighting for the guber ticket include: former Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole, Yanju Lipede, Chief Yomi Mejekodunmi, former House Representatives member, Jelili Amosan, Prince Gboyega Isiaka, Segun Adewale, former minister, Sharafa Ishola, Chief Rafiu Ogunleye and Hon. Biodun Akinlade. The primary that was said to be an open race, however had four aspirants pencilled down including two from Ogun Central and the other two from Ogun West senatorial district. The two aspirants from Ogun Central are: Prince Yanju Lipede and Chief Remi Bakare, while the two from Ogun West are Prince Gboyega Isiaka and Omooba Segun Adewale. According to a reliable source in the party, the four aspirants were considered based on their political pedigrees and popularity, saying their political structures would be strong enough to unseat Governor Ibikunle Amosun at the general election. The source further said that by the party stakeholders decision, the Ogun West zone would be most likely favoured in their clamour for the number one seat in the state, adding that the party elders considered that that zone had not occupied the seat of power since the creation of Ogun State. He said the decision might not go down well with the Egbas (Ogun Central), saying with the present political calculation, bulk of votes will not come from Ogun Central. However, following the clue on the four aspirants pencilled down by elders of the party, some of the aspirants that included Bankole and Anthony Ojeshina were absent from the governorship screening exercise held at the South-west zonal office in Ibadan, Oyo State capital over the weekend. Aspirants present at the screening exercise include Isiaka, Akinlade, Isola, Ogunleye, Adewale and Majekodunmi. — w
