Ogun spends N43m monthly to evacuate waste The Ogun Government spends an average of N43million monthly on waste evacuation, Mr Ayo Olubori, the state Commissioner for Environment has disclosed. Olubori, who stated this on Tuesday during the 2014 ministerial briefing in Abeokuta, said that government also spent over N1bn in the past three years to acquire waste evacuation equipment. He stated that eight teams of the State Environmental Protection Agency were daily evacuating wastes in major urban centres of the state and highways. “These efforts are being complemented by private waste managers who have been structurally organised and culminated in the launching of the State Waste Managers Association in 2013,” he said. The commissioner said that government also engaged the services of 1,000 people in 2013 for the daily cleaning of all high and major streets in the state. He said that various steps have been taking by the government to ensure a clean, healthy and friendly environment in the state. Olubori however solicited the co-operation of the people in ensuring a friendly environment in the state.
