Oh... Look what i ran into in a boxing forum. a high-brow and blown-out-of-proportion praise for Floyd... what do you think guys?! .... I think the defining moment in Mayweathers career was when he said: theres nothing cool about getting hit. In my opinion just like when we went from old school days of hurt business to the modern era of boxing with Muhammad Ali, Floyd has taken boxing to the post-modern era of which he is the foremost Representative. In the post modern era with relative wealth and welfare spread out throughout much of Europe and America (where absolute majority of boxing greats have come from) , you can not expect people to come out and put their lives on the line for a buck every time they fight - like they used to do a hundred years ago. The value of a humans life has been on constant rise throughout the history - and a specially sharp one in the last few decades. So Floyds attitude to this sport is the most relevant today and it should be taken as a symbol for a fighters mentality in this day and age: a fighter who cares for his life as a valuable human being. The other positive thing you can say about Floyd - regardless of all the jokes they make about him - is that instead of being a thug and bully which is the prevailing characteristic of people who turn to this sport, he has been a serious and dedicated sportsman from day one. He has been like how Muhammad Ali was, or like how Pac Man is - they are a rare breed in this sport and they should be valued highly. Also lets not forget: Floyd has taught many fans and fellow fighters alike, how to use their brains to survive in this life.....
