Oh My Great and Mighty God!! I can not contain my tears or my praise!!! TO GOD BE THE GLORY GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE!!!!!! Somebody let out a shout of praise!!!!! Monday 8/11 5:30PM By LaNay Blackmon — 2 hours ago Today has been the best day yet. : ) Breathing trials and the T-piece have gone great. Hes been on the T-piece most of the day with no problems. Thats a huge praise, as that gets him one step closer to coming off the vent. :) Physical therapy this morning went better than anyone was expecting! They said he could try walking today and we were all going to be so pleased if he had just walked to the door of his room and back to his bed. I should have known better!! : ) He walked out of his room, down the hall, to the lobby windows and back. This was with the assistance of a walker, and with his nurse and physical therapist right by his side. They said they offered minimal assistance and that his upper body strength was making up for the weakened muscles in his legs. We were so proud of him and so excited! My heartbeat is just now returning to its normal rate! He was pretty tired after that and then had dialysis, so he has slept most of the day since. After that I had lunch by myself. I looked at the mountains outside and just thought about how awesome God is. How hes been right here with us since the phone call; and with Jake since the lake. I could go on and on about how Hes been right there with us since Jake was born in 1995, but thats a whole different journal entry. God has put people in our lives right when we needed them and still continues to til this day. His kidney doctor said today that now that hes not so critically ill, he considers today to be Day 1 of his dialysis treatment and expects much progress by Day 10. Please pray that those kidneys start filtering and that dialysis is a short-term thing for Jake. His infectious disease doctor feels good about the infection clearing up with the 3 antibiotics that hes on; one for each bug. :/ Please pray that is indeed the case and the infections clear up completely with nothing left behind. I have a special request for tonight. There were so many people at the lake and the ER that saw Jake that day. Everyone I talk to is so amazed and moved to tears by his progress. They all know that God orchestrated events that day. However, they all remember how Jake looked when they saw him. Im grateful to not have that picture in my head. Please pray for the images in their heads to be replaced with images of a healthy, recovered Jake. Specifically pray for one young man that I know has had a hard time. Jack is 15 and he and his friend, Grant, alerted Joe to where Jake was once Rob got their attention to look for him. They tried to give Jake their oars, but he couldnt grab on. Thats so hard to for me to even write out. Please pray for peace and comfort for Jack that only God can provide. These boys are two more of the heroes in Jakes story and such blessings to our family. There are also two young girls who are heroes as well. When I posted the message for people at the beach to email me, I got one email from a 9-year-old girl named Grace. She told me that she and her cousin, Juliana, hopped out of the kayak they were in to give to the lifeguards so they could get out to Jake faster. She said, I hope that helped. I assured her that it did. Im so grateful that they were paying attention to what was going on around them and thought to do that. Now that Jakes awake, Im about to see if he wants to open the pile of mail he received today. :) The Battalion Chief, Bryan Caulder, came by to visit Jake and was here to get to see him walk. That was so awesome to get to share that with him. Keith and his dad went to Lake Tahoe/Sand Harbor today and Keith hasnt stopped talking about how beautiful it is. I am looking forward to hearing more about that and seeing pictures tonight. Please continue to pray for no nausea and good sleep for Jake tonight as well as his lungs and kidneys. Thank you for your continued prayers and for staying the course with us. God bless you and yours. ~LaNay heart 18 people hearted this Make a Tribute ← Older Newer → Sign Up and Stay in Touch Be one of the first to know when there’s an update to Jake’s website.
