Oh come on. No need to go overboard with calls for deportation, - TopicsExpress

Oh come on. No need to go overboard with calls for deportation, etc. The guys a douche, as are many people working in particular sectors. (What is the robbing of a bank compared to the founding of a bank?--Brecht). But there comes a point when the online lynch mob starts looking ugly--and also desperate--as if the way Singaporeans try to compensate for their lack of civil liberties is not to go after the powerful government, but by ganging up to bully a presumably powerful individual. No, its not justice when you kick someone whos obviously down. And no, just because someone like Shanmugam decides to join in the chorus doesnt mean all this Singapore-pride-righteous-anger is vindicated. It only means you have a minister trying to convince you that hes on your side rather than the side of the 1% hes been courting. I would feel very disturbed if one day Singaporeans felt that death threats, police reports, complaints to employers and Internet shitstorms are manifestations of people power.
