Oh dear I have a point to make and I know it will not please everyone, but, it is MY opinion :) Now look, when someone handcrafts an item, be it a greetings card, an altered item, knitted, crocheted, painted etc...it is ONE OF A KIND. It is NOT mass produced ... It takes time. Materials used AND waste materials from the project have to be financially accounted for.... A wage has to be taken for the craftsperson....and it should be no less per hour than the minimum wage Utility costs, equipment usage costs,........ I could continue to raise points...but suffice to say...ALL the above naturally go a long way to working out the final price of a finished item.... IF anyone expects to purchase a handcrafted item for LESS than a mass produced, same as thousands of others item.....then they will be truly disappointed. I firmly believe there are those people who fully appreciate and seek out handcrafted, OOAK cards, gifts, etc AND who know the price they pay will be higher than for a mass produced equivalent. There are those who would very much like to buy handcrafted but whos budget wont allow it There are those people who under no circumstances could ever see themselves paying a penny more than they have to...and why would they when there are 5 cards for a £1 in the local shop....?? NO ONE is wrong or right here....it is a matter of CHOICE My reason for this post?...... To kindly ask the folk who constantly moan about the prices of handcrafted items....to please QUIT !!! No one makes you buy from us...we know we appeal to a relatively small percentage of the population, but please dont offend us by pointing out that it can be purchased for a fiver less down the road...because IT definitely CAN NOT....my IT has taken me hours to create...it has not just rolled out of a machine with its identical counterparts ...Thank you :) x
