Oh, forgot a TV thing: Showtime has the pilot for their show THE AFFAIR, which premieres Sunday, online in a slightly blurred/bleeped version. Female/gay friends will be very happy to know that Dominic West and Joshua Jackson are naked. Ruth Wilson from LUTHER is also naked but is sad. It is weird seeing her flirt with McNulty from THE WIRE after getting it on with Stringer Bell on LUTHER, and weirder still that Rawls from THE WIRE plays McNultys father-in-law here. Also, one of the Bunheads is McNultys daughter, which is weird. Maura Tierney is not naked as far as I can tell but is still a stone-cold fox. I have been in love with her since NEWSRADIO though not as much when she was on ER because she was always sad. She will probably be sad here too once McNulty starts cheating on her. SPOILERS: It is slow as hell the first half., but does a whole RASHOMON thing midway through that makes the characters more complex and the narrative more interesting. One thing that amused me is that in both retellings, McNultys kids are horrible. In his retelling, they seem like demanding brats, while in the female retelling, they are climbing all over stuff and louder. An amusing subtle cosmetic change in the flashbacks is that the Bunhead daughter has these sunglasses in the first one, and in the second one, theyve changed into heart-shaped specs like Sue Lyon in LOLITA, indicating the female POV pretty much sees her as a little tart. Anyway, watch yourself and let me know what you think in the comments.
