Oh irony of sitting here Friday deciding what floor to get, then the valve breaks on the toilet cistern and floods 4 rooms in the house. The tap to turn the water off is on the back wall in the utility room where I have stacked my entire belongs to the roof to clear the house for the floor to be laid. The house is flooding, no one is here, so I hit my life line safe and sound pendant panic button and the fire service come. By the time they do arrive Ive already almost broken my back lifting most of my boxs out the room and carrying through an inch of water to the kitchen (which is the only room not flooded) to turn off the tap. Aghhhhh walking stick in one hand mop in the other, me just in my pants which are soaked and see through as Ive been fighting back the water like the boy at the dam with my finger in the hole. Only for Terry the fire man of which there were six grrrrr to tell me that if I turn this screw exactly vertical under the loo would have stopped the flooding and no requirement to lift a thing or look round and entirely new house to me for stop taps. I also found out why the drain in the wet room wasnt draining the flood away as the the wet room drain only works when the shower cord is pulled to activate the pump. So NO water pouring from the toilet cistern drained away and it poured for 30 mins. About 60 mop buckets full. At least the floor is cleaned. The firemen re-stacked my boxs whilst I towelled myself off and got dressed. Insane in the frigging membrane. Then my buddy turned up and we movie marathond it until last night. Whilst the house dried out. Hey ho. Good job I didnt agree to carpets being laid they would have been ruined. Always a silver lining.
