Oh my gosh, what a crazy few weeks it has been! Daily radiation - TopicsExpress

Oh my gosh, what a crazy few weeks it has been! Daily radiation appointments have us going crazy! I feel like the days go by so fast now, before I know it its past Ds bedtime and Im still looking at dirty dishes in the sink and laundry on the floor! LOL! But, I guess that is just part of being a mom!!! :-) Dorian is almost finished with his radiation therapy. He has the rest of this week and one more session on Monday. Thats it! This will be the 4th time Ill post a last day of radiation photo to his page. He has been doing great! A little bit of nausea which is causing a decrease in appetite but he hasnt really lost much weight and there are definitely some days where he eats really well. No burning or blisters as of yet. Its curious to me that I had so much anxiety about this session of radiation, and yet, it seem to have been the easiest on his body. Knock on wood. Once again we both feel the sting of leaving our friends down at the Cancer Center of RI Hospital, but we will see them here and there and they always encourage us to visit them. Dorian had his Physical Therapy evaluation last Wednesday. His right calf is very tight again and even his left is starting to lose flexibility. Hell be doing PT weekly again and they are discussing getting him a new cast/boot to wear to help stretch the muscle. A new cycle of chemo was to start yesterday, but Dorians platelet count was not high enough to begin. Platelets need to be at 68,000 to start a new cycle and his were only 40,000. So this is our first delay of the new protocol. Not too bad really. Well try again on Monday after his last radiation appointment. On Tuesday he will have an MRI of his legs and CT of his pelvis. On Thursday he will have MRI of his spine and a Bone scan. Its going to be a busy week for sure. Oh, and of course add PT in there as well. I swear if I didnt have a calendar on my phone I dont know how I would keep things together. He is LOVING his camp! And it is wearing him out big time! I pick him up from camp at 2:45 to bring him to his appointment and he is passed out 10 minutes into our drive. Its great. We hope all of you are enjoying your summer!!! Stay D-Strong!!
