Oh the day of reflection and unbridled passion for whats to come. After observing and contemplating what moves each of us forward it seems there is only one word that can embrace all that we dream of in this new year...CHOICE. The best present my parents ever gave me was the ability to make choices for myself. And that present led me to another gift...the gift of FAILURE. All people young and old need the ability to choose. We choose our goals....lose 20 lbs. Then we choose to go the gym, refuse the cake and remain conscious of the end result. Day 2 of the diet the best friend brings over the favorite dessert and failure reigns. Its funny how success and failure dance before our eyes as we walk the path and whats even more interesting is how we choose failure. Our happiness is not contingent on what is going on around us, its really dependent on how we choose to respond. Heard it before? Lifes lessons repeat themselves over and over and over. But if we take notice we realize that the repetitive lesson disappears once we decide to make a change. Much of the advice given to me over the years only became real after I had failed. All of us want to be in charge of ourselves but to be in charge we must take charge. We cant blame our failures on extenuating circumstances. We can only evaluate our own attitudes and behaviors and check ourselves for the motives behind our choices. So as we move into 2015 and we hold onto the reigns of our unbridled passions lets remember that we can only succeed when we make choices aimed at success and leave behind the excuses that only lead us to fail. Here we go again warriors, take the bull by the horns and choose success in 2015.
