Oh, the myth of the military victory, of violence defeating, overcoming, ending violence... In so many situations, we perpetuate myths, but we know that they are myths. We wink at them. We outgrow them. We know that they are not true -- Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy. Somehow, though, with this one, we continue to cling to some sort of hope-against-reality-and-truth that it might become real and be true...this time.
