Oh yeah. Before I forget. I have to give you all a progress update. Today is six months since I had my accident. By the Grace of God and the many well wishes and prayers Im Proud to tell you that I am, in fact walking. The physical therapy they have me doing has been a big part of it. Not far or for very long. My right leg is stronger and I have much control of my physical function, but my left leg I cant control my knee or ankle so its still a lot of work moving it. But I can do enough to get around my house once I get a walker and an AFO (ankle and foot orthotic device), which I should have later this month. My goal starting out was to be able to walk around my house. Now I want to work on moving on to just a cane and being community ambulatory. People always ask how I remained so positive and able to move forward after my injury. I have been through a lot of adversity that made me able to adapt to everything thats been thrown my way in life. Ive always been an independent person and that was a major driving force for me. I know a lot of people knew this was coming, but personally I didnt realize it would be so soon. Lol. I really think you guys wanted it more than me. So far the farthest Ive walked is 300 feet with a walker and electronic stimulus on my left leg to help me lift my foot. Ive actually been able to stand for two months. I can walk about two meters per second which is two and a half times what I could do a month ago. They say you regain the most and heal the most within the first six months to a year. At first I wasnt so sure where Id end up physically. I havent gained full sensation back, but the physiological gains are more important to me. I still have a long way to go and a lot to do. But I cannot deny that I am Blessed. And I thank each and everyone of you for your Prayers and Well Wishes. The support Ive received from each of you means the world to me.
