Ojude Oba festival: Globacom promises to preserve Ijebu people’s cultural heritage Thu Oct 3rd, 2013 - Ogun Facebook Tweet Share Globacom, the telecommunication giant, has promised to promote and preserve the cultural heritage of Ijebu people through the annual Ojude Oba festival. This hint was dropped by the Coordinator, Marketing of the company, Mr.Adeniyi Olukoya, during the World Press Conference to inaugurate the 2013 Ojude Oba Festival, held at the Awujale’s Palace, Ijebu-Ode, on Wednesday. Olukoya, flanked by the Divisional Director, Mr Kunle Akanmu and the Business Director, Ogun State, Mr Gbolahan Olajide, said that the telecommunication company would continue to add value and novelty to the festival. He noted that the annual festival had been addressing issues germane to the development of Ijebuland in particular and Ogun State in general, adding that it would collectively advance the cause of Ijebuland. The marketing coordinator promised the readiness of the company to partner with the festival’s organising committee to make the parade of all age grades (regberegbes) and the horse riders memorable and exciting by featuring Glo Ambassador Burna Boy and other top rated Nigerian artistes. “The annual Ojude Oba Festival is a rallying point for all Ijebus to pay homage to the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba (Dr) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, and collectively advance the cause of Ijebuland socially and infastructurally. “We salute the Awujale for the giant strides recorded since he ascended the throne of his forefathers. “It is noteworthy that the Alaiyeluwa has been using Ojude Oba festival to address issues germane to the development of Ijebuland in particular and Ogun State in general. “On our part, we promise to continue to up the ante by regularly adding value and novelty to the festival. This year, we shall partner with the festival’s organising committee to make the parade at the arcade more memorable, the Royal Banquet will be more regal and colourful and the musical show more exciting,” he said.
