Ok - first timer question about pacing. Ive signed up for the 85k, but not done an ultra before. Longest training run was 55k trail, pace between 6.45-7min/k with similar altitude gain/loss as race. And at 55k...couldnt imagine running another 30k. So my question is, obviously, everyones different but 1) how significantly would I need to slow my pace down in order for it to make a difference in the last section? Are we talking, like, 2min/k? 20sec/k? Or, 2) does one always feel dead regardless of beginning pace and thus its better to get in the faster kms while you can? I know theres no rule but looking for some thoughts/strategies on how to approach it.
