Ok Facebook, I went to Nordstrom today for the first time ever, and what an experience I had. My two children and I went shopping for some Toms and we stood there for 10 mins waiting for assistance from an employee. First, there were two white women standing at least 10 ft from us just starring. A black woman soon came by and greeted us but was assisting other people. Still, no assistance from no one. My son then said he was going to ask the white women for help and I told him no, I wanted to see if one of them would come to assist us. They stood there looking and talking still. Then an Asian woman walked up and the associate ran to assist her, while we still stood there. The other lady walked towards us and looked and walked by to assist someone else. I explained to my children how discrimination and racism is an everyday battle for African Americans and took my money and spent it elsewhere. I explained to them that some people do not discriminate against others, but to just know that you do not have to take this type of treatment from anyoone or any organization.
