Ok ... . Heres the story . It started over 3 weeks ago innocently enough with a toothache . And like a lot of people I thought I could ride it out with some Motrin and it would go away ......WRONG !!!! It turned into a full blown abscessed tooth and jaw with incredible pain . I ended up in the ER and was given some Amoxicillin and some more NSAIDs with Codeine. One night while I was sleeping the abscess ruptured and basically poisoned me to the extent where I went BACK to the ER and while there they noticed all kinds of medical issues that were arising suddenly . Elevated blood sugars, high blood pressure etc....I was admitted for 5 days and went home feeling pretty wiped out. I saw a Doctor 2 days later and he switched medicine and dosages and after taking a Calcium Channel blocker and a vasodilator my entire world turned upside down . I cant remember too much except vomiting about 10 times at 4 am. until green bile was the only thing I could bring up, shaking like a leaf , being extremely cold yet sweat was pouring off of me . It was then that I got in my truck and drove to Broward General. I remember only being on the ground in front of the ER door and a Deputy helping me up and into a wheelchair . I woke up in Intensive Care .......Stayed 3 days in ICU and 2 in a regular bed . In a nutshell I was in a Diabetic Coma , my blood was poisoned with Ketones , my blood pressure was 235/137, my kidneys had failed and I had had a mild heart attack and I received two blood transfusions . Its been a few days since Ive been out and Im on some serious meds and rest. I ache all over ,its hard to walk any distance and Im dizzy a lot Im all swollen and they poked me full of holes but thank God , I made it through . I never, ever want to feel that bad again. I want to thank everyone who came to visit me and all those who sent me their well wishes... My sister Patti and Chip for being there .My nephew Jimmy and Jeaneen Patti Friend , Brice Howe for all her help , Joycee Poo , Jack and Jackie , Dan OBrien for his pep talks and my old buddy Mitch Weisman and everyone else .......you know who you are .If I missed anyone Im sorry , still a wee bit foggy but Ill be better soon and hope to see you all under better circumstances.
