Ok I think I am done showing everything I wanted to show about Berlin! Until next visit!!!!! Berlin was an amazingly inspiring city. I went trigger happy because I didnt want to forget anything about this city. One of the things that I did notice was the hard effort and attempt of the German people to move away from their history of Nazism. The only issue that I saw with their effort was how they tried to pretend it never happened. There was a lack of reference to any of it, but in very few places where it was mention as a by the way point. Perhaps they are not ready to own it fully, but its something that I feel needs to be shown to the visitors because if we let them forget about it, it may happen again! I mean the Holocaust memorial was understated. There were no names of the victims or explanation of the monumet. It was simply just concrete slabs that looked like coffins. It was almost as if we are all expected to know about it. Our generation does, but the future will not unless we demand it to be fully shown. Maybe I am being insensitive to their guilt and effort to make things better. But they did after all killed 6 million jews, gay people, gypsies, Jehovas Witnesses and anything that deviated from their very german and rigid way. This is def. something I want to explore in art.
