Ok I want to tell you about the weirdest day I had last Sunday. So I was out at Waotu at a whanau reunion and got picked up by a driver in my first trip on a Ministerial car to travel to Tamaki for Marae Investigates. It was great. I was able to do all of my reading of briefings etc. Spend 30 minutes in studio then back to driver to drive home saving me waiting around for next flight. Got to have a moe after long week and get rid of emails etc. I get home and I await the arrival of Fred from a family who lived three houses up from ours back when I was a kid. We are talking back in the late 60s. He arrives, it was great to see him 45 years on. For his part, he was with his new partner. They were together forty or so years ago at school but through circumstance, they split with families moving. About three months ago she finds him on Linkedin. He rings her and asks what she is doing for mothers day. He flies out from Perth, finds her and they end up being together!!! I mean boy friend/ girlfriend/ partners!!! He goes back to Aussie, packs up gears and is back in NZ. All of this in a few months!!! What about that?? But wait theres more. We are sitting there talking, the dog is barking at the gate, my wife heads out to calm Mokai down and there is a lady and her daughter at the gate. She says, I used to live three doors down the road and used to play with a young Flavell fulla and was wondering if he stays here? Erana brings her in. I look up and see her wondering who this is. Erana says someone here to see you with a huge grin on face. Lady you tell the story. I say... Judith??? She says... yes!!! It turns out she had brought her family back to where they had their holidays when she was young for her 60th birthday and called in by chance. Now what are the chances of two people whom you have not seen for 45 years or so, both arriving at your doorstep on the same day at the same time???? Holy cow!!! Freaked me out. So awesome to see them both but what the heck are the chances??? Too much e hoa ma. Made my day!!
