Ok Im back among the living! For those interested in what went on yesterday heres the cliff note version of my recap. Official PW(finish time), but Ive never been prouder of what I endured. IM#5 is one I will always remember. Hardest thing I have ever done. So thankful to have made it. Lowlights include getting sick on the bike and then not being able to keep anything down. Basically survived on salt tabs and water for much of the day. Oh- then I lost the one contact I wear after about the half way point. Had no idea how I would finish when I started the run ...or even if they were going to let me. Figured they would just pull me at some point. Once it got dark it all felt like a blurry dream. Collapsed after the finish line- made my first trip to a med tent. Its kinda like MASH in there. Highlights have to include just feeling all of you worried about me and knowing how much you hoped I would make it. The kindness of the volunteers especially the medical group at the end. The med guy on the moped thing (on the bike course) that didnt make me stop. The sweet volunteer in T2 that started crying when I hugged her and told her thank you. And finally those few people I could actually recognize when they called my name that encouraged me to just keep moving. Over and over and over on those out and back sections. I really didnt know if I would make it under 17 hours because I had no idea of my swim time or transitions. Just kept moving...and talking to God. Im in awe of what the human spirit can endure when tested. Epic day out there. Speedy recovery on tap. 7 weeks to IMMaryland.
