Ok. It has been a long time since I have used parliamentary procedure but if this third committee crap is against house rules then how the hell can they kill the bill?.. (FYI the AG committee is basically run by farm bureau insurance who has no damned business in politics) ..... On Thursday, members of the Tennessee House hijacked legislation to increase penalties for attendance at animal fighting events. House Bill 2120, which had already cleared two necessary committees with overwhelming support, was diverted to a third committee, the notoriously unfriendly House Agriculture Committee, to be killed. The move was unprecedented and a likely violation of House Rules, and sends a shocking message to the rest of the world that animal fighting in Tennessee should continue, business as usual. Agriculture committees in the House and Senate have already killed legislation to protect chained dogs and dogs in puppy mills. Now they are poised to do the same with animal fighting. Please make a brief, polite phone call to your state representative Ryan Williams(615) 741-1875 today. You can say, Im calling to urge you to support HB 2120 to increase penalties for spectators at animal fights.
