Ok Karen Mellert asked me about maintaining my vegan diet while competing away from home. I have 3 Must Have Travel Items that always come with me. 1. My little portable blender 2. Ample supply of Vega protein power. That gives me a fantastic breakfast and morning snack and I have also had protein shakes for 2 meals a day when I have had to in the past. 3. A travel pack of Hemp Hearts that I can shake on any old boring plate of veggies to make a complete meal for myself. Of course I buy bananas, blueberries & spinach to add to my smoothie. Before I leave home I always source out the nears fresh juice bar and closest Whole Foods or similar market and I stop there as soon as I get to town, often I can get full meals there as well. When those type of markets are not available I can always just have lots of fresh fruit to keep me going . . . but it has never come to that there always seems to be some resource somewhere for me. I have a great app on my phone that I use as well happycow.net on the off chance there may be a vegan friendly restaurant in town (it is more common all the time!). Love happy cow, will tell you vegan, gluten free…whatever you like. . . anywhere in the WORLD! This little blender is the best $14 you will ever spend. Blends my frozen berries, chipped ice, almond milk, banana and spinach with no issues! sears.ca/product/hamilton-beach-single-serve-blender-with-travel-lid/611-000227421-51107C?gclid=CLOh1_m68L0CFa07MgodH0cAag&ef_id=UTZrDwAAAcLQKBr6:20140421014739:s
