Ok, Kiddies, a small glimpse (1 page) of an excerpt from my brain to be submitted to Greentons Discipleship team: How do I know Im saved – Tom Wann --- Have I answered the question? A song says, “Cause the Bible tells me so”, I could amend this and say, “cause the Bible TOLD me so”. That is correct but also we need to know what the first cause of Salvation was and how it affects us. We all are sinners (Romans 3:22-24) and need Salvation by the standard, mercy, and judgement of God. Use the “Romans Road” or simply read the Book of Romans which is a letter to the Church of Rome written by Apostle Paul. He explains very well the cause, need, method, and source of sin AND salvation. Let me explain how I know I am saved. I first had to get past the thought that I was OK, as is. I discovered that I was a sinner and was condemned to ETERNAL death as judged by God and His standard. If I had died I was to be doomed and judged by a Perfect Judge. Reality of this set in and like Christian in “Pilgrims Progress” I was scared/worried and asked people about it and got an answer that made sense. I took a step of faith and made a public statement that “Jesus is Lord” and ALSO believed in my heart that “He was raised from the dead” (Romans 10:9-11) Your inward faith that this is all true and then a public stand such as a public statement and baptism is what is required. As mentioned, “Anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame”. I seriously believe that I believed and trusted Him before my public stand. Certainly there was a lot more questions, Bible reading and prayer. I have had doubts along the way which eventually only strengthened my faith and resolve to trust and work for my Lord. I also have stepped backward into sin; I think it is inevitable that most, if not, all of us “Back Slide” to some extent. Remember this that, “Everyone who calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved”. This statement leaves no one left behind, IF they have believed as is stated in Romans10:9-11. The Lord does not give away nor let slip away from Him those that belong to Him, John 6:35:39 says, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe me. All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will NEVER drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of Him who sent me. And THIS is the will of Him who sent me, that I shall lose NONE of all that He has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Fathers will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have ETERNAL life, and I will raise him up at the last day”. Without going into further theological arguments with myself and hitting all the “What-ifs”, I simply say that if not the God of the Bible, then what else is equally safe AND makes sense historically, and in the heart? How do YOU know you are saved? Are you certain of this? I ask you to reread the previous verses. Do not get hung up in the usual arguments. Give your faith and the promises and love of Jesus a chance first. John 17:20-24 is a part of His prayer while in passionate agony at The Garden of Gethsemane, “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who WILL believe in me through their (the Apostles and others after them) message, that ALL of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory. The glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.” I say, Amen. One more page in progress...
