Ok Memphis and Nashville people [both living in and away from the area]. Plenty of you know that one of the top reasons why I moved to NYC was because I wanted to live in a city where I didnt have to pay car insurance or buy gas. Plenty of you have said that you wished Memphis had better public transportation. While a light rail system would be nice, a Bus Rapid Transit System would be more realistic. If SB 2243 is passed, however, NONE of that will happen. Therefore, take a SECOND out of your day to contact the TN House of Reps capitol.tn.gov/legislators/ CALL Governor Bill Haslam and get really ratchet with him over the phone: Office of Governor Bill Haslam 1st Floor, State Capitol Nashville, TN 37243 Primary (615) 741-2001 Tell him that you want him to VETO SB 2243, which states: This amendment prohibits metropolitan governments and any transit authorities created by a metropolitan government from constructing, maintaining or operating any bus rapid transit system using a separate lane, or other separate right-of-way, dedicated solely to the use of such bus rapid transit system on any state highway or state highway right-of-way... #PublicTransportation #MassTransit #BRT thinkprogress.org/climate/2014/04/01/3421088/koch-brothers-tennessee/
