Ok. My thoughts on this baby grant: According to Howai concerning the 2015 budget presentation, any baby born to underprivileged mothers WITHIN THE NEXT FISCAL YEAR (wish I could italicize I am not shouting ok?) will receive a grant of $500 a month for a year only..... Why not enhance social programmes to ensure those who wish to bring a child in the world can do so comfortably instead of relying on the state somewhat. How about programmes to move these parents from underprivileged to manageable and self sustaining privilege? Is this possible? While this may be inevitable, it seems that this grant is being touted as some sort of gift....the administration of this grant SHOULD be done in addition with some active programme to assist the parents to self sufficiency so that any future children are provided for by their parents and therefore will not make these parents eligible for future grants/gifts..... Just some random Budget 2015 musings....
