***Ok Rant Warning*** Today I turned 57 years old, and I was working out how long I had been working, I left school at 16 and apart from the 4 years I took off to have my babies, I have worked ever since, so thats 37 years working and paying tax and national insurance, so over the years I have paid in many thousands of pounds into the system. So you would expect that after 41 years and being nearly 60 I could finally start thinking about retiring in a couple of years, but no apparently not, I have been informed that I must work until I am 66 years old before I can claim the pittance of a pension from the system that I have paid into for the last 40 years, so I will have worked for 50 years when I finally retire in 9 years, is that fair???? I want someone to explain to me why it is that I have to work 50 years before I can get a pension from the system I have supported all of my life, and yet someone can come into the UK from any EU member country and claim Unemployment Benifit, Housing benefit, council tax benefit and can even claim child benefit for children not even living in the UK. I saw a programme on tv which showed a woman, who didnt speak a word of english, who had come into the UK with her 10 children and her 10 grandchildren, she was getting £450 a week in benefits, living in a house and she was over the moon, because she had never been as well of in her life, she was getting paid more in benefits than I get in salary???? I have never claimed a damn thing in my life so perhaps I should just give up my job and start claiming benefits you say! Well actually no because I would not get any benefits at all, because I have paid my mortgage for the last 25 years and now own my own home, I have also put aside a small amount each month over the last 40 years so because I have savings I wont qualify for ANY benefits at all, it makes me wonder who is the fool in all this :( So I will never vote Tory, Labour or Liberal again, until someone holds up their hands and says NO MORE, WE ARE FULL, and finally gets us out of this crippling EU and we stop giving away our hard earned cash to non UK citizens. We have enough UK citizens claiming benefits without this open door policy allowing anyone to just walk in and claim money from a system that they have never paid into and have no intention of paying into. Its just madness and so very unfair. RANT OVER xxx
