Ok... So I just watched Chris Rocks SNL monologue because there is a lot of chatter about it on the Internet and Facebook. Personally, ive never found Chris Rock funny. It doesnt mean hes not funny, but I wouldnt put him in the category of the all time greats like Pryor or Carlin. Hes very good at what he does, he just doesnt make me laugh. He always seems smug and forced. Somewhat condescending. Full of himself... Hes not funny to me like his contemporaries... Bill Burr, Louie CK, that new kid Pete Davidson, Rich Vos, Hannibal Buress... And there is more besides those five... Thats just off the top of my head The Christmas stuff, the gun stuff was thought provoking, funny.... The best line at the end was if you ever see him doing a benefit is because he had the disease. I thought the marathon stuff wasnt offensive. It just wasnt funny ... Too long of set up. The Freedom Tower wasnt offensive. What was offensive about The Freedom Tower stuff is it wasnt funny. Sure, it was right on about how we may make it into a holiday, but I dont really like his delivery. He always seems forced. A lot of words, but not a big pay off. Anyway... Thats my two or three cents. Hes good at show business, he works very hard and, like Ive said, hes good at what he does. He just doesnt make me laugh.
