Ok, So I wanted to share this yesterday but wanted to wait until Ruben did first. Yesterday Aliyah and her team ( The Woodward Arsenals) had their first soccer game of the NOSA season. It was at 10am and they were playing an all boy team. The Arsenals were winning like 3-0 when something amazing happened. The Arsenal girls kicked the ball to one of the boys. His name is Luke and he is autistic. This is his first time to play soccer. At first I didnt really know what was going on. Then my daughter and her team mates Averi and Maci were all running beside him cheering him on. Yelling, Go luke GO! Shoot the ball Luke!!! And he did and he scored!! He had the biggest smile on his face and jumped up and down! And all the Arsenal girls cheered for him and gave him a high five! As Im watching this amazing act of compassion from these children including my daughter the tears just began to flow. Not just because Im some emotional pregnant lady... but because this touched my heart so much and really speaks to me because of our daughter Aubry. She too is developmentally delayed and autistic. At that very moment it gave me hope... Hope for humanity, Hope for our children that may struggle. There was a lot of great moments yesterday during our first games of the Fall soccer season. Aliyah even scored... The Arsenals won both their games. But the highlight of my day and probably the entire soccer season was the goal that Luke scored that day! And the amazing love and sportsmanship from a little kids soccer team. I think we can all learn a thing or two about this story. Below is Lukes Dads story of his Son and how happy this made him :) Hope this touches someones heart today. Be Blessed.
