Ok. So. This next one is to get yall thinking.... Dispatched out to a 17 yof. Sudden onset of a headache.. Upon arrival, make contact with a healthy appearing 17 year old female. She is in the fetal position on the couch, crying. All she can tell you is that her head hurts like never before. Mother states she was working on her homework, began sneezing, and immediately complained of a headache. Mother denies any history of migraines or trauma, patient validates no prior history and no trauma. Patient is also complaining of difficulty swallowing. Upon moving patient to stretcher you notice patient has severe lack of coordination, and is very weak. Vitals as follows. BP of 118/62, pulse of 138, resp 18/min, non labored, sp02 98% room air. Mother and patient both deny any medical history, states that the patient is an active runner, allergic to PCN and codeine, and only prescription meds is Birth control that shes been on for 2 years. Next steps. Questions; diagnostics to look at, etc. Ill try to keep up, and please read previous comments to make sure youre not doubling up questions. Nearest hospital is 10 minute transport, hospital with childrens hospital attached is 25 minutes.
